Assassin’s Creed 5 Won’t Be Set in Feudal Japan

The next entry in the Assassin's Creed franchise won't take place in feudal Japan, Ubisoft Toronto's Jade Raymond confirmed in an interview with Adweek.

Aside from the fact that it won't include Samurais, Raymond didn't offer any other hints regarding the game's setting aside from the fact that it features her favorite historical setting.

"When we’re building a franchise, we’re thinking of a whole universe and how we’re developing a meta-story that could live on for many years in games and TV," Raymond said of the series. “If the story has nowhere to go, then you end up with the video game equivalent of The Matrix 2 or something where it’s never going to be quite as genius."

Let's hope that Ubisoft can continue to come up with interesting story hooks and settings to keep the Assassin's Creed franchise from growing stale. Especially if the publisher plans on continuing to pump them out every year.
