The Last of Us Episode 4 on HBO introduced audiences to a band of new characters. One of the most memorable was Kathleen, who was intent on hunting down a man called Henry. It was clear that she shares some history with the fellow survivor, blaming him for what was hinted at being the death of her brother, by way of FEDRA officials. As she hunted alongside her fellow mercenaries, she mentioned that Henry “wouldn’t let Sam go hungry,” but who are Henry and Sam in The Last of Us? Here’s what we know. Note that there are spoilers discussed ahead.
Who is Henry in The Last of Us HBO series, and who is Sam in Episode 4?
Henry and Sam are brothers, on the run from Kathleen’s band of mercenaries. The sibling duo are fan-favorite characters from the video game on which The Last of Us is based, serving as supporting heroes to Ellie and Joel. Henry is the older brother to Sam, fiercely protective and at times, underestimating his brother’s ability to grasp the seriousness of their situation.
Their story in The Last of Us HBO series looks to be a little different to that in the game. Kathleen and her revolutionary movement, for example, are entirely original for the show. Exactly how Henry and Sam are a part of Kathleen’s story remains to be seen, but it would appear that their rivalry could reach its tipping point in the next installment.
In the game, Henry and Sam are simply on the run from hunters, who ambushed their group of survivors just looking to get by. Their story isn’t a happy one, and if The Last of Us HBO series decides to stick closely to their fate, then audiences should expect tragedy. Lamar Johnson and Keivonn Woodard play Henry and Sam respectively, after their introduction at the end of The Last of Us Episode 4.
