Those who are familiar with the Last of Us video games will recognize Ashley Johnson’s character as Ellie’s mother, Anna Williams. While she is never shown in the game, she is mentioned, and players can read a letter that she wrote to Ellie before tragedy struck. As Ellie is now without her mother in the present day, it seems appropriate that she will appear via flashback.
Another interesting thing about the cast for the Last of Us Season 1 final episode, is the return of Ari Rombough and Sonia Maria Chirila as assumed mother and daughter duo, Joyce and Hannah. Joel was responsible for the death of Hannah’s father Alec in a previous episode, which foreshadowed Abby’s thirst for vengeance which is expected to be followed in Season 2.
