Fans want to know whether there is any early access available for Redfall. Microsoft does have a history of providing early access to games on Xbox and PC, particularly with EA Play games through Xbox Game Pass. Since developer Since Arkane Studios is owned by Microsoft by way of Bethesda, Redfall will release on the Xbox Game Pass subscription service on day one. So, the possibility of playing Redfall before its release date and time isn’t low, at least on paper. Some might be able to use the “New Zealand trick” too.
Can you play Redfall early?
No, unfortunately players cannot play Redfall early, or at least not anymore.
A user on the Xbox Series X Reddit showed a screenshot as evidence that the player was able to play the game early. This was done using the “New Zealand trick” where the user set the Xbox console to the New Zealand time zone, so that they can get early access to Redfall ahead of schedule. Several other users in the thread also indicated that they were able to use the trick as well. This is surprising given that there is a simultaneous release time for the game.
However, it only took Xbox a few hours to notice that people were using this exploit, and it has temporarily shut down the servers, according to some users posting later in the thread. It’s unclear how long people were able to access Redfall, but it seems to be at least an hour or so based on when users posted in the thread.
That said, Redfall releases on May 1 at 5:00 PM PDT / 8:00 PM EDT, so it won’t take too long for fans to play the game later today.
