Baldur’s Gate 3 Keeps Smashing Its Concurrent Player Record on Steam

Given that Baldur’s Gate 3 only came out recently, it’s hardly surprising that the hype around Larian Studios‘ game is still sky-high. In fact, it’s so popular, that the RPG is consistently smashing its concurrent player records.

Will it reach 900,000?

According to SteamDB, a third-party website that tracks everything related to Steam and Steam releases, Baldur’s Gate 3 reached a new all-time player peak, logging 875,343 users as of Sunday, August 13.

If you look back over the past week or so, you can see this number just going up and up as more fans turn to the long-awaited threequel. As of this article going live, there are currently 392,787 players online right now.

It gives some indication of just how popular Baldur’s Gate 3 is at the moment. Sure, it’s been highly anticipated, and the player count will almost certainly drop off eventually. But for now, the game could well be on-track to having 900,000 concurrent players if this trend continues.

On top of that, the game is also the third most played title on Steam at the moment, just behind Dota 2 and CS:GO. Considering the top two are from Valve, you could argue that BG3 is the best “non-Valve” game on the platform overall. It’s even beating out mainstays like GTA 5 and Team Fortress 2.

As it stands, it’s easily the most popular RPG on PC right now. There are console versions on the way, though unfortunately we’re not sure whether it will come to Xbox Game Pass or not. Likewise, it doesn’t look like Baldur’s Gate 3 will be coming to Nintendo Switch either, at least for the meantime.

When it does release on other systems, you can bet that the game will enjoy another spike in popularity. It’ll be interesting to see how many concurrent players it can get in total.
