Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 Will Add Split Screen Merging, Closed Beta Coming Soon

If you’ve been waiting to hear about Baldur’s Gate 3 patch 7 rolling out, developer Larian Studios has a bit of news on that front. As well as outlining what the update will come with, there will soon be an opportunity to join an open beta for playtesting.

Baldur’s Gate 3 toolkit alpha progress

Larian has given a breakdown of what you can expect in the new update for Baldur’s Gate 3, which is coming in September. For starters, the game will be introducing a new split-screen merge function. As the name suggests, this will allow for players to “have split screens merge into a single screen when you [sic] near one another.”

On top of that, there are some new ending cinematic cutscenes for your evil playthroughs. While the post does not wish to give too much away, there are some brief teasers, which include a caption that reads, “Would you lie with me and just forget the world?” as a camera zooms out over some dead characters.

One of the other big changes that’s coming is official mod support. This was announced at the start of June, and there’s been some feedback from modders who have been using the toolkit in a Closed Alpha.

Speaking of playtesting, there’s an opportunity to get involved with a Beta Test for Baldur’s Gate 3 patch 7. Registration is now open, with the beta going live July 22. The developer goes on to say that the selection process for testers will be random, with instructions on how players will be contacted and how they can report issues.

Of course, no update would be complete without big fixes, and the upcoming download will feature its fair share. This includes improvements to dialogue and romances, as well as fixes for Dark Urge players.

The post on Steam adds that the “journey isn’t over yet” for Baldur’s Gate 3. There are still some things the team is looking to do to improve the game, which will include some fan-requested features like crossplay and a possible photo mode.
