Target Australia Refusing to Sell Grand Theft Auto V [Update: Kmart Too]

[Update] Kmart Australia has announced that it too will be pulling all copies of Grand Theft Auto V from its store shelves.

"Following a significant review of all content in Grand Theft Auto games, Kmart has taken the decision to remove this product immediately," the retailer told Kotaku Australia. "Kmart apologises for not being closer to the content of this game."

[Original] Target Australia has announced that it is pulling all copies of Grand Theft Auto V from its store shelves in response to concern from the community and "feedback from customers about the game's depictions of violence against women."

Jim Cooper, the retail chain's general manager of corporate affairs, said, "We've been speaking to many customers over recent days about the game, and there is a significant level of concern about the game's content.

"We've also had customer feedback in support of us selling the game, and we respect their perspective on the issue," Cooper added. "However, we feel the decision to stop selling GTA V is in line with the majority view of our customers."

How do you feel about Target's decision to no longer sell the game to Australian consumers? Do you think the game's violence crosses the line?
