Avowed is the new Obsidian game that’s currently on track for a 2024 release. However, it looks as though the Fallout: New Vegas studio is also working on a new project, but it’s too early to say what it’s going to be at this stage.
Could the new Obsidian game be Fallout: New Vegas 2?
As noted in a report from GamesRadar, a LinkedIn profile from Daniel Cabuco shows Obsidian Entertainment has something else in the pipeline. Cabuco has just been taken on as the new Art Director for the developer, but all we know is he’s currently involved in an “unannounced title.”
At the time of writing, there’s been no official announcement about the mysterious game, but as word spreads about it, it’s possible that Obsidian itself may confirm something other than Avowed is on the horizon.
Of course, what many fans will almost certainly be hoping for is Fallout: New Vegas 2. The GamesRadar article points to a thread on Reddit where several users are holding out that it will be a new game in the long-running post-apocalyptic series.
Cabuco joins the team having had plenty of experience in the industry already. According to their LinkedIn profile, they’ve worked on several critically acclaimed titles, including God of War, both Last of Us entries, Tomb Raider, Death Stranding, and more.
He’s previously worked in a senior management role at Riot Games and also has more than five years of experience as a Principal Artist at PlayStation. As such, it sounds like Obsidian Entertainment will be making the most of some great talent.
To reiterate: we have no idea what this elusive new Obsidian game is. Whether it will end up being New Vegas 2 or not remains to be seen, but given how beloved the first one was – and that it’s been 13 years since it released – many will be calling out for a long-overdue follow-up.
