Divekick Preview

Karate chop, no chop?

All I picture when I think of Divekick is Eric Cartman saying, "I'll kick you in the nuts." And in Divekick, you will be, in the head, chest, whereever. It’s a fighting title that’s all about jumping in the air and placing a well-timed flying foot to your opponent.

What? Wait a minute, did I write that right? Just a second… dive kick… in the air… no punch… head shot… dead… over. Yup, that’s correct. It's that easy. Well hell, anyone up for a few rounds? After, we could even play the game and watch this truly epic trailer.

There’s no need for endless button-mashing because the selection of buttons are only two. No, not eight buttons with directions, just TWO! You say you want to throw down a combo? Well, there ain't no combo! This isn’t the Jack in the Box value meal. It’s the sweet, sweet dollar menu.

One hit, sudden death, first to five. But you have to be super cool while you play, just like all the characters with their hands in their pockets the entire time. I feel as if a riverdance battle is about to break out. It’s all arcade style and the graphics are a little cartoony; reminds me a bit of the 90’s animated show, Static Shock.

It's just so hilarioushow can it not be?—I mean, a few of the characters include Uncle Sensei, Dr. Shoals, The Baz, and S-Kill. Each is equipped with one ground and one air special, and remember, there are just twooo buttons. Not only do they each have their specials, they also have silly quips and poses, my favorite probably being Kick dropping the mic that he pulls out from nowhere.

Divekick is quickly developing into an almost an underground, fight club community. Fans get rowdy at these matches. “Oooh you got served son, straight dissed!” Definitely worth checking out when it’s drop… kicked in Q3 2013 for PC, Vita, and PS3.
