Money, money, money! Everybody wants to make more of it. That’s especially true in Final Fantasy games, where the gil doesn’t exactly flow like water. If you’re looking to start rolling around in cash more in the latest Final Fantasy release, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, there are a few methods you can subscribe to if you need to increase your cash flow significantly. It’ll take some time to get things started, but eventually you’ll be able to outfit your party members with the best weapons and gear money can buy. Get ready to start farming some gil!
Become a Thief
If you’re familiar with Final Fantasy as a whole, you know all about how Thieves can steal gil and items from enemies. There’s a special item in Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age that makes being a thief even more efficient. Head to the Mosphoran Highwaste and look for a Save Crystal.
There should be a chest right beside it. Inside the chest is a pair of Thief’s Cuffs, which you should equip on your most proficient Thief character. They’ll increase the likelihood that your character will steal a rare or valuable item, which is exactly what you’ll want to be doing from here on out through every battle.
Set up a trustworthy Gambit that automatically uses the Steal ability and you should start nabbing things left and right from unsuspecting monsters. Whatever you get for your trouble can be sold for gil that you can use in turn to beef up your party in terms of equipment and other helpful items. You’ll be rolling in the dough in no time!
Beat the Bomb in Nabradia
You’ve probably heard of the King Bomb enemy, which can annoyingly heal himself. He’s a boss you’ll face in Nabradia after you’ve leveled up past your early 30s. There are several Bomb enemies here which you can steal the item Bomb Shell from.
The King Bomb, which is the boss of the area, will net you several Bomb Shells as well, which are worth a pretty penny when you go back to a village and cash out. You’ll be doing a lot of this with other types of sellable loot, so lather, rinse and repeat.
Set Up Shop in the Westersand
There’s a way to earn a decent amount of gil by farming specific kinds of monsters, and this method comes down from Final Fantasy XII before its Zodiac Age iteration. There’s an area in the Westersand known as the Corridor of Sand that you’ll need to watch out for. Keep a ton of Phoenix Downs and restorative items on hand, because if you traverse there and look around with a party member with only a sliver of HP (below 10% of their max, to be specific) a monster called Dustia will appear.
The Phoenix Downs you should have handy will kill Dustias in one fell swoop, so if you can act fast enough to throw one and see it die, you’ll be rewarded with a special item known as the Book of Orgain. You’ll be able to sell that loot for a decent amount of money. Just repeat this process for as long as you need, and you’ll even see some of your party members level up while you’re at it. Now that’s a win-win.
