While you get ahold of the pistol in the initial act of Metal Gear Survive, it’ll be awhile before you actually get the first gun you can keep permanently. After letting you use a handgun for about twenty seconds before the Captain drops it like an idiot, you won’t get another one for an hour or two (depending on how quickly you progress through the game). We’ll show you exactly how and when you can get your first gun in Metal Gear Survive.
How to Get Your First Gun in Metal Gear Survive Single-Player
For the first little bit of the game, you’re going to be flailing around at enemies with a spear or a machete. Unfortunately, for a while, your only option in weapons is going to be decidedly low-tech stuff. However, that all changes in chapter 3.
After you pick up the second memory board in chapter 3, you’ll get the blueprints for the air tank by returning the damaged air tank to home base. Once you craft an air tank, you’ll have the ability to enter the Dust for the first time. Virgil AT-9 will mark the location of another memory board on your map in the Dust.
Once you reach your destination, you’ll be introduced to containers. Containers are large storage containers that you have to unlock using a mini-game. They contain valuable blueprints and material caches, and this is the ticket to getting your first gun in Metal Gear Survive.
In the same building, the memory board is in you’ll find a container. When you unlock and open it, you’ll find the blueprints for the BURKOV handgun and the 9x19mm ammo. To craft the BURKOV, you need the following materials:
- 10 Gears
- 5 Springs
- 10 Iron
- 10 Screws
Additionally, you’ll need an Advanced Weapon Workbench. You should already have the plans to build one, so replace your current weapon workbench with the new one and craft your pistol. Make sure to remember to craft some ammo to go with it, and for even more options, add a silencer and flashlight for some extra functionality.
