Rocket League Trading Cancelled: How To Fix Item Swapping

Rocket League users have reported that they are receiving both ‘trading cancelled’ and ‘trading failed’ messages when attempting to trade with other players. Here’s how to fix the Rocket League trading cancelled error in a few simple steps.

Rocket League Trading Cancelled: What’s The Issue

If you’ve got a garage full of items ready to trade on Rocket League then it’s likely you’ll head into a trade lobby to barter with someone over swapping items. However, gamers are having their trades cancelled without either player pressing a button. This error will continue while saying either ‘trading cancelled’ or ‘trading failed’. It has been reported on Xbox One, PS4 and Steam.

Rocket League Trading Cancelled: How to Fix The Error

The problem appears to stem from the most recent Rocket League 1.43 update and a bug that has cropped up for users who have downloaded it. In it, items that are currently set for use in a user’s presets (e.g. you’ve got a certain set of wheels on a preset that you want to trade) will be unable to be traded.

There are two possible ways to fix this:

The first, and most straightforward, solution is for both you and your trading partner to remove every item from all presets (as annoying as that may be for some who have spent hours cultivating their cars). Then, you and the user you were trading with need to quit Rocket League and re-launch the game and you can continue trading.

If that does not work, a longer workaround may be required. This involves doing the solution above removing all presets and quitting the game but, instead of re-launching Rocket League with your current profile, you will need to first sign into a different profile (be it Gamertag, PSN ID or Steam account), fire up Rocket League and quit again. After that, you can sign back into your original account and boot up the game. From there, things should work as normal.
