Asgard is noticeably locked in God of War. Since it’s the homeland of the Aesir gods players are right to wonder if you can get to Asgard in the game. There isn’t any apparent way to open the path to the realm at first glance, but you may still be thinking a side quest might lead you to the answer you need to unlock Asgard. We’ve got everything you need to know about if you can get to Asgard in God of War below.
Can I Get to Asgard in God of War?
There are a few realms you can unlock during God of War, so it makes sense that you’d get a chance to visit Odin and pals in Asgard. When you open the travel room in Tyr’s Tower, the game shows allows you to select Asgard, though, it will say that it’s locked.
Unfortunately, any realm that says “Odin has prevented travel to this realm, the travel rune will never work,” is telling the absolute truth. There are three realms you can’t travel to at all in this game. These locations will likely be key locations in God of War 5, which is already confirmed to take place in the same world.
Some have speculated that Asgard will feature in post-launch DLC for God of War. However, the director of the game has already stated that there are no plans for extra content at this time. God of War seems to be its own self-contained story, and we’ll have to wait for the next full game to check out Asgard and the other two realms that are locked to us.
As for what might be waiting for us in Asgard in a future God of War, we can’t be sure. However, we do know that it’s the homeland of Odin, Thor, and other major Aesir gods, so if we travel there in God of War 5, we’ll likely meet the big shots of Norse mythology.
