Every weapon in State of Decay 2 has limited durability. From a baseball bat to a military-grade .50 sniper rifle, each weapon degrades and will eventually wear out. To keep your survivors armed, you’ll have to learn how to repair weapons when they finally break. Below we detail the process on how to fix guns and melee weapons in State of Decay 2.
How to Repair Weapons in State of Decay 2
Your first weapons in State of Decay 2 won’t be the most durable. You’ll likely have a baseball bat or a hatchet and if you’re lucky a .22 pistol or rifle. These lower-end weapons tend to break down often, but even if they do you won’t be able to do anything about it starting out. To repair weapons, you first need to secure a home site.
Depending on where you settle down, your base may have a workshop built in. If not, you’re going to have to gather the materials you need to construct one. Once you do that, you’ll have the ability to repair weapons, but not necessarily the resources.
Each weapon in State of Decay 2 costs parts to repair. You’ll find these parts randomly throughout the game, and you can also generate them by breaking down materials or broken gun parts. The less damaged a gun or melee weapon is, the fewer parts it takes to fix it, so you’re best off performing routine maintenance on your arsenal often.
To repair a gun or melee weapon in State of Decay 2, you must first unequip it and return it to your supply locker. Once it’s in the locker, you can highlight it and see how many parts you need to fix it. If the weapon is damaged or broken the cost in parts will be significantly higher than if it’s still in excellent condition.
Because of the vast amount of parts it takes to keep your weapons in top condition, you’re best off taking a different approach depending on the items you have. For melee weapons, you should pick a few favorites and scrap the rest. Firearms, though, are a different story.
Since you never know what kind of ammo you’re going to come across you want to keep each gun you get. There’s no use in keeping that AR-15 all shiny and repaired if you don’t have any 5.56 ammo and if you scrap all but a few of your guns you’ll soon find yourself with a massive stockpile of bullets that are useless to you.
