Fallout 76 may be enticing us with its promise of, well, we don’t know what exactly, and the rumors of a potential Fallout MMO, there have also been whisperings of there being no mod support for Fallout 76. We’ll look at where this rumor started, whether it holds any weight and what the alternative to mods might be with any potential PS4, Xbox One and PC release.
Fallout 76 No Mods: Will There Be Mods?
According to a 4Chan post, which has since been deleted and screenshot for posterity on the Space Battles Forums a person with presumed inside information of the inner workings of the Fallout 76 development has indicated that mods will be present in the game, with a big caveat. While, of course, there may be no truth to the rumor, the user states that no external mods will be allowed outside of Bethesda’s own official Creation Club.
Fallout 76 No Mods: Why Are There No Mods?
The potential reasons are manifest. For one thing, the game may not need to rely too heavily on mods if it includes, for example, a dynamic online world. There is also the possibility of Bethesda moving things entirely to its official platform from now on. However, the user who provided the leak suggests that Bethesda will “sell it as a security thing.” Whichever way it ends up, it appears that all Fallout 76 mods will go through official channels.
Fallout 76 No Mods: Creation Club
Creation Club is a paid-for mod service run by Bethesda which showcases the best-of-the-best when it comes to mods for Fallout 4 and Skyrim. Mods are available on Creation Club for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Should Fallout 76 be included there, it would mean there would be no free support from the community should any issues arise, which is a move that may irk some fans who rely on unofficial patches, graphic updates, and the like.
