III. Notable Things/About the Author and Game

---

Currently residing in your refridgerator eating your food,

I have typed this guide mainly because there are so many

questions about this guide on the forums. Most of these questions

include the guitar defects and Through the Fire and Flames by DragonForce.

Guitar Hero is a rhythm game started by Harmonix and Red Octane

in 2005, including many great songs such as Bark at the Moon,

Killer Queen, and Iron Man. Late in 2006, the Guitar Hero franchise

was bought out by Activision before the release of Guitar Hero II,

which includes the infamous Jordan, Trogdor, Free Bird, and others.

Before Harmonix left, they stayed in to finish the making of

Guitar Hero Encore: Rock the '80s, a Playstation 2 exclusive disc.

With the release of Guitar Hero III, boss battles were introduced

into the solo career, but I won't spoil that now.

V. Additional Modes

---

Shown here is a list of all the modes, what they contain,

and a short description of each.

Career - Create a band name, play songs on Easy, Medium,

Hard, and Expert. Does include the Boss Battles vs. Slash,

Tom Morello, and Lou.

Cooperative Career - Same as above, but with a friend.

You and your friend can choose individual difficulties and

guitar or bass/rhythm. Boss battles are NOT included here.

Quick Play - Single player mode where you can play a song on

any difficulty but you cannot choose the boss battles here for

some reason. :(

Multiplayer - This will be broken down into three categories:

-Face-Off: You and a friend play a song, both being

able to choose your own difficulty, however, in this mode

you do not play an entire song, you switch off playing a verse

or so instead...(bleh) The person with the highest score wins!

You can use star power in this mode

-Pro Face-Off: You and a friend play a song on the

same difficulty and you DO play the entire song in this mode

instead of switching off. Highest score still wins here and

star power is still in use here.

-Battle Mode: Here's where it gets interesting...

In this mode, you and a friend play a song with your rock meter.

Instead of star power, you get battle powers; listed below.

You will continue playing the song until one of you

(Rofl @ Expert vs Easy battle)

Broken string: One fret button on the

opponent's guitar will not work until it is fixed.

(Rapidly tapping the button.)

Difficulty up: The opponent will play the

song on an increased difficulty for a short duration

of time. (Doesn't work on Expert.)

Amp overload: The fret board will shake and

cause the notes to blink, making the scrolling notes

difficult to read.

Whammy bar: The opponent will have to use the

whammy bar before he/she can play notes again.

Steal power: This will steal your opponent's power-up.

(Doesn't work if your opponent has no power-up and this will be wasted.)

Double notes: The opponent will have to play any single

note as a two-button chord, and any two-button chord as a three-button

chord for a short amount of time.

Lefty flip: The fret board will be mirrored; the green and

orange will swap places, same with the red and blue.

Death Drain: Sudden death mode, this attack is unstoppable

and your rock meter will go down until you fail when the attack is

launched against you and vise versa.

Training - Also split into categories, but only two this time.

-Tutorial: Teaches the basics of playing the game.

Four different tutorials, including one for hammer-ons &

pull-offs and battle mode.

-Practice: Allows you to practice a song on any difficulty

and allows you to pick whether you will play lead guitar or bass/rhythm guitar.

You can choose parts of a song, or if it's TTFAF you will more than likely be

playing it here. You can also slow down the song to learn specific parts.

Options - You can change various options here as well as enter cheats and save.

Nintendo WFC - You can connect to the internet and play versus random

people or your friends using one of the three "sub-modes" in the

multiplayer mode.

VI. FAQs

---

Q: How do I activate Star Power?

A: Tilt the guitar upwards, this also applys to the battle powers

in battle mode. :)

Q: Help! I can't beat TDWDTG!

A: I have done this using a mirror somewhere to the left or right of me for the

lefty-flip. Also, please doesn't ask how to beat it, because you have to be good

at either whammying or button tapping...>_>

Here's a strategy from a guy named Justin -

"To beat Lou in "The Devil Went Down To Georgia", simply wait for these three

power-ups

Broken String

Amp Overload

Whammy

Difficulty Up,

My preferred combination is:

Broken String

Whammy

Difficulty Up

All of these power ups appear near the end of the song, use them when he is

doing one of his last solos before the end of the initial battle. This

combo will force him to fix his string, slam his whammy and try to keep

up with a higher difficulty when he returns, if he is in the Yellow during

this time, he will go down in flames."

Q: I can't find Through the Fire and Flames! AHHH!!!

A: Simply (lawl) beat TDWDTG and you've unlocked it, this can be done on

any difficulty.

Q: Which characters can I pick in this version?(The Wii Version)

A: Axel Steel, Casey Lynch, Judy Nails, Johnny Napalm,

Izzy Sparks, Lars, Xavier Stone, Midori, Tom Morello, Slash,

Lou, Metalhead, and Elroy Budvis.

Q: I cannot use cheat codes!

A: Goto the options menu and pick Cheat Codes. Then Enter New Code (I think,

not looking at it ATM) and press the buttons AND strum.

Q: Is Velvet Revolver in the game?

A: Yes, and no. Not on the Wii Version, but on the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions

as DLC.

Q: How are the 4-star and 5-star calculated?

A: I don't really know, that is until I read this:

From "nvtsirak22"-

"Hey I was looking through your FAQ and I realized that you didn't have the

4-Star and 5-Star cutoffs (don't worry nobody does). I don't excatly have them

either but I have a way to find them. If you want this...well here you go.

For both of these you have to play the song once.

5-Star Cutoff "Formula":

(Your Score divided by Your Avg Multiplier) times 2.8

For example, if I was looking for the 5* cutoff for Cliffs of Dover, lets

say my score was 203,437 and my avg multiplier was 2.3. It would be 203,437

divided by 2.3, which equals 88,451, and then 88,451 times 2.8, which is

247662. That would be the 5* cut-off score.

4-Star Cutoff "Formula":

(The 5* Cutoff times 2) divided by 2.8

Same rules apply.

These "formulas" work with any level on any song, even on co-op."

VII. Guitar Problems with the Wii

---

What to do if you have one of these problems:

Non-responsive Button(s): Simply restart the game, do not press

any buttons on the guitar or detach the neck from the body of the

guitar and blow into the slots like an NES/GBA/SNES game

Non-Responsive Whammy Bar: Restart the game and make sure the

whammy bar is not being pushed down even the slightest or simply

do the NES game trick stated above. Or, you can simply just

re-insert the Wii Remote. :)

OMG! Lag! : Very simple, start a song, pause and goto options

then goto calibrate lag and follow the instructions, if this

doesn't work, I got nothin'.

My Wii Remote Speaker Doesn't Work! : Goto the home menu and

Wii Remote Settings (the option at the bottom) and make sure the

volume is up all the way. If that doesn't work, goto options in the

game and turn up the Sound FX all the way if it is not already.

If none of this works, return your game to the store and

exchange it...Hope this helps y'all! If you have another

solution, email it to me!
