Minecraft Cross-Play PS4: Can I Play Minecraft on PS4 With Other Consoles?

Sony seem to be caught between a rock and a hard place, and there’s no pickaxe in sight. The lack of Minecraft cross-play on PS4 is looking worse and worse by the day with the inclusion of Nintendo Switch and Xbox One cross-play update for all Minecraft users who own the game on those consoles. But what about Minecraft cross-play on PS4? Don’t get your hopes up, to put it mildly.

Minecraft Cross-Play PS4: Is Cross-Play on PS4?

Sony has continued their policy of not allowing cross-play of any kind across to the Xbox One console. That also rules out any systems currently linked to cross-play. such as Minecraft, Rocket League and Fortnite on Nintendo Switch. This is despite some very strong pressure from gamers aiming to get Sony to reverse their decision. However, unlike Fortnite, you won’t have your account locked out if you play Minecraft on a PS4 console. Each version of the game will also be updated at roughly the same time.

Minecraft Cross-Play PS4: Where Can I Cross-Play?

If you’re hankering for a spot of Minecraft cross-play action then your best bet would be to fire up the Xbox One, Switch or PC editions of the game, as they all allow cross-play with each other. As of writing, only PS4 players are completely isolated from other communities on console and PC.

Minecraft Cross-Play PS4: Better Together Update

With the release of the Better Together update, a Minecraft patch aimed at allowing Switch and Xbox One cross-play, is it becoming abundantly clear that Sony are being left behind in the industry. This may just provide the catalyst gamers need to not only enable Minecraft cross-play on PS4, but to also force Sony into becoming more inclusive with their console.
