Dark Souls Remastered 1.03: What’s Been Fixed in the New Update?

Prepare to die. Again. Dark Souls Remastered 1.03 update has just hit all platforms, as well as being prepped for the imminent Nintendo Switch release, and it’s got its sights set on curbing cheaters’ enthusiasm, as well as polishing a few irritating bugs towards the game’s final act. The full patch notes are covered below, as well as a look at the cheating/hacking fix, and a few more things besides that.

Dark Souls Remastered 1.03: What’s Changed?

Dark Souls Remastered, despite the extra spit and polish provided to the re-release, still carries its fair share of bugs. A few based around Gwyn Lord of Cinder (including one particularly nasty save game glitch).

It is online multiplayer, though, that has received the biggest amount of attention. Players will no longer be invisible on occasion on both PS4 and PC, while those who aren’t receiving messages when playing online multiplayer will soon find that cleared up once they’ve applied the update.

Dark Souls Remastered 1.03: Cheating Fix

But it’s those pesky cheats that are feeling the brunt of FromSoftware’s force. The patch notes simply read:

  • Improved the security against cheating during online multiplayer

However, this is some of the best possible news Souls players could ask for. While the game hasn’t been plagued by hackers and the like, there are still a few odd occasions where they ruin the game for others online. This will hopefully catch a few cheaters in the act and ban them in the process.

If you’re reading this then the 1.03 update has gone live. It launched on Xbox One, PC and PS4 in the early hours of July 11. It should (theoretically) also come to Nintendo Switch on the game’s release day.
