Is Star Wars Battlefront 2 Palpatine missing?! There’s a very good chance your favorite Star Wars Battlefront 2 character has been pulled from a galaxy far, far away. EA has released a hotfix that’s removed Palpatine from online play for being too darn OP. Here’s everything you need to know about the heinous hotfix (I just like Force lightning some fools up, okay?) and whether the Emperor might return at some point down the line.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 Palpatine Missing: Why Can’t I Play as the Emperor?
Simply put, he’s just too powerful. Whether it’s his outrageous maneuverability, unstoppable chain lightning attacks, or even attacking people through walls, it’s reached a point where Palpatine just isn’t fun for those going up against him. Sure, it’s fun if you’re using him, but it’s left the game horribly unbalanced.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 Palpatine Missing: Hotfix
So, EA concocted a plan. Their recent hotfix plucked Palpatine from the online arena under the cover of some tucked-away patch notes. Here’s what they officially had to say:
- Emperor Palpatine – We plan to execute our Kill Switch (KS) for him. This means he will be removed from the game. He will be disabled until a hotfix can be deployed. We don’t take this decision lightly, but we feel it is in the best interest for everyone until a fix can be deployed.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 Palpatine Missing: When is the Emperor Returning?
As frustrating as this may be to hear, the Emperor is only returning to online play when he gets fixed. Whether that means a nerf or complete removal of a certain attack remains to be seen. Star Wars Battlefront 2‘s next big patch update comes in the fall so EA is probably, though this is pure speculation, aiming for everything to be sorted long before then. An August return wouldn’t be out of the question.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 Palpatine Missing: Offline Modes
There is a beacon of hope, however. The wrinkly one can still be used in offline modes, should you want to mess about with Mr. OP Lightning himself among friends or with bots. Just don’t come crying to me when he lightly toasts your entire team at the press of a button.
