It should go without saying that one of 2019’s big gaming highlights will be the conclusion of Sora’s story in Kingdom Hearts 3. But, after a seemingly never-ending wait to finally cap off the franchise, just what will the Kingdom Hearts 3 story length tally up to? For the first time ever, we’ve got a very good idea of just how long the game will be in terms of both the main story as well as if you were to take in all of the side content along the way.
Kingdom Hearts 3 Story Length: How Long is the Main Campaign?
Geek.com managed to snag interviews with Square Enix PR reps at a recent event for the game and the main takeaway is absolutely the reveal of the Kingdom Hearts 3 story length. If you don’t want to know anything going in, you can look away now…
‘Kingdom Hearts 3 is around 40-50 hours if you stay on the critical path,’ according to the article. Pretty standard for a JRPG of that calibre and, as we’ll find out in just a second, stacks up pretty well to the rest of the series.
Kingdom Hearts 3 Story Length: Total Game Length
But what about when you factor in the rest of the game’s smogarsboard of side content? While some minigames and the like haven’t yet been revealed, there’s a cooking minigame with Remy from Ratatouille, an old-school Mickey Mouse set of games-within-games, and the Gummi Ship is back too. They will reportedly add at least 30-40 hours of content onto the main Kingdom Hearts 3 story length of 40-50 hours.
How Does The Kingdom Hearts 3 Story Length Compare to Other Games in the Series?
But how does Sora’s final adventure compare to his first, his second, and every other game in the series in terms of story length? Let’s take a look (via HowLongToBeat.com, an aggregator of game completion times):

- Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories (23 hours)
- Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (26 hours)
- Kingdom Hearts 2 (32 hours)
- Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep (30 hours)
- Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance (23 hours)
