Yakuza Kiwami 2 multiplayer would be a dream for many players. After all, what could be cooler than wondering around Kamurocho with your online friends or in split-screen co-op? However, Yakuza Kiwami 2 co-op and split-screen is a bit less than what most people would like. Below we’ve got everything you need to know about Yakuza Kiwami 2 multiplayer.
Does Yakuza Kiwami 2 Have Multiplayer?
The Yakuza series has had some form of multiplayer for a while now. Yakuza Kiwami 2 uses the same format in that only certain parts of the game are 2-player. Unfortunately, a friend can’t join you for split-screen co-op or online multiplayer in the main game.
You can play 2-player for some activities in the game. Some of the mini-games you encounter in the main game have multiplayer that can be accessed from the main menu. You can also play the arcade games included in 2-player mode.
Does Yakuza Kiwami 2 Have Co-Op?
Unfortunately, past the small activities above, there’s no multiplayer in Yakuza Kiwami 2. I can understand why seeing as Kiryu is sort of a lone wolf and it’d take a lot of balancing and story concessions to explain why a second person was fighting alongside him.
As cool as it would be to hang out with friends in Kamurocho online, it might take away from the overall Yakuza experience. After all, the story is one of the big attractors in this game, and I’m not sure how they’d make that work with multiple players, all with their own personas.
However, with Yakuza 6 being the ultimate conclusion to Kiryu’s arc, there’s always a chance that in the future a Yakuza game might be more centered around a co-op experience. Don’t let the lack of multiplayer in Kiwami 2 get you down, though. It’s a great single-player game and definitely worth your time.
