Fortnite Renegade Raider: When Will the Renegade Raider Skin Come Back?

The Fortnite Renegade Raider skin is the Holy Grail of the game right now. The elusive skin was a Fortnite Season 1 reward, so seeing someone drop in wearing those duds means you’re looking at a veteran of the game’s early days or someone who’s dropped back in to see what’s changed. But how can you get your hands on the famous Fortnite Renegade Raider skin now that Season 1 is long behind us? It’s a difficult question to answer, but we remain hopeful that it’ll come back.

Fortnite Renegade Raider: When Will the Renegade Raider Skin Come Back?

Fortnite Renegade Raider

If you’ve been playing Fortnite since the early days – which really wasn’t that long ago, honestly – you might have seen the Renegade Raider skin far more than you do now. After all, we’re practically swimming in more readily-available skins at this point. Back then, though, things were very different. There was no Battle Pass offering thousands of V-Bucks worth of skins over the course of a season. Instead, we had the Season Shop – something of an exclusive club where only those who reached a certain level could even buy these trophy-like skins.

As you might have guessed, Renegade Raider was one of them. Available to purchase for 1200 V-Bucks only after reaching Level 20 in Season 1, the Fortnite Renegade Raider skin vanished as the season ended and was never made available again.

So why is everyone suddenly talking about it? While there’s no guarantee that the Fortnite Renegade Raider skin is about to make a grand reappearance, the stars may just be aligning with today’s return of the Laser Chomp glider with the rest of the Chomp set.

The Laser Chomp was originally added to the game in late July, so seeing it return a month later has caused people to bring up something Fortnite Player Support staffer IambicRam stated to Twitter user @NFSBloody late last month.

The now-famous exchange between the player and the Fortnite Player Support had IambicRam say that “Renegade Roller, as well as any other rotational item ship cosmetics, will be making reappearances in the future”. They later emailed again to clarify that they meant the Renegade Raider skin rather than the non-existent Renegade Roller item mentioned.

So what’s the deal? Well, while exchanges of this type between players and Epic Support is usually little more than speculation on both sides. Despite what you might think, Fortnite Player Support staff rarely have insider knowledge of this magnitude.

But today’s re-release of the Laser Chomp glider added a little fuel to the fire by proving that old items really can make a second showing outside of the Daily Item rotation.

So will the Renegade Raider skin come back? We think so. There’s no way to predict when it might come back, but there’s little reason to suggest it won’t. Players clearly still want the skin, and just typing the Renegade Raider name into Twitter throws up a bunch of players looking to “sell” their Season 1 accounts for a healthy profit – something we can imagine Epic Games will want to limit thanks to the likelihood of children being scammed online.

If anything, expect the skin to come back with a different name and some slightly altered details. That way, those who played in the early days still have their claim to fame, whereas those who just want a similar look won’t have to resort to shady back-alley deals.
