In a just world, Fortnite controller support would be universal. However, having the chance to pick up your favored gamepad or controller and weld it (theoretically speaking, of course) to your preferred platform, be that PC, mobile, or anywhere else, is pretty much non-existent for the majority of the time. There are a couple of workarounds, though. Here’s everything you need to know about Fortnite controller support for mobile and PC.
Fortnite Controller Support: PC
Rejoice! You can actually link your controller to PC and play with both an Xbox One and PS4 pad. Confirmation has come through on Reddit regarding Xbox One and PS4 controllers both being compatible on PC. So, if you’re itching to ditch the keyboard and mouse you can fire them both up via the controller’s attached USB, though button mapping may provide a more contentious issue as there is no official means of sorting that out.
As of writing, the Nintendo Switch Pro controller can not be used with Fortnite PC.
Fortnite Controller Support: Mobile
The issue of Fortnite controller support on mobile is far more straightforward, but frustratingly so. There is no mobile support to speak of. So, whether you’re an Apple fanboy or you’ve taken advantage of the abundance of Galaxy exclusives, you’re still without an option to use a controller on Fortnite mobile.
This being the internet, though, someone has tried to find a workaround. Ebay carries the weird and wacky world of Fortnite mobile controllers but, as you see by the link, there are neither official, nor recommended. In fact, you should absolutely be buying these at your own risk as there is no guarantee they will ever work, and may be liable to serious defects.
For now, we’ll have to stick to grumbling on the Epic Games forum until our voices are heard.
