Assassin's Creed Odyssey Disable UI

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Disable UI Elements: Customize the HUD

Assassins Creed Odyssey is out this week on October 5, and there’s an incredible amount to do it in, from exploring the Greek world, sailing a ship, to assassinating drunk mercenaries from bushes. However, some may say there are too many things to do, since Ubisoft has loaded the HUD with all manner of UI elements. Fortunately, you can turn these UI elements off. In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey disable UI elements until you’ve customized your HUD as you want it. Let us show you how.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Disable UI Elements: How to Customize the HUD

Disabling UI elements in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and customizing your HUD the way you want it is easy, but can take some trial-and-error to get just right. Go to the main menu, either in-game or at the start. Go to Options, then the HUD tab. Here is where you’ll find all the different UI elements you can turn off. There are 20 in all.

The first thing you should note is the ‘Presets’ option on the left. If you don’t want to manually choose the UI elements you want to turn off, you can just choose one of four preset options, from Full to None. You can see on the right which UI elements each of these presets have deactivated. Otherwise, pick your own. We personally decided we didn’t need ‘Fight Damage Numbers’ as well as enemy health, and maybe you think the objectives take up too much of the screen? Or that annoying glowing compass perhaps? Switch them off, you can turn them back on again at any time.

Why Would You Want to Disable UI Elements?

Customizing the HUD is mostly for cosmetic reasons, of course. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a gorgeous game, so you may not want the screen cluttered with unnecessary UI elements getting in the way. Much like in Far Cry 5, which also had these options, the quest log can take up a lot of the screen, so it might be good to turn it off.

Additionally, of course, you may want to play Assassin’s Creed Odyssey as cleanly as possible, with as little “videogame” elements as possible. A giant glowing compass and a gauge showing how wanted you are can be useful from a gameplay standpoint, but they do break the immersion a little. The choice is yours, however.
