Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is out now, and whether you’re playing as Kassandra or Alexios, you’ll have access to many awesome abilities, including the surprisingly useful Hero Strike move and the power to shrug off any fall damage. Perhaps one of the coolest things you can do, however, is taming wolves and other predatory animals to be on your side. But how do you get an Assassin’s Creed Odyssey tame wolf, or a lion? We show you how.
How to Get an Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Tame Wolf
To tame wolves and other animals in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, you’ll need to unlock a particular ability. Go to your Abilities menu, and in the top-left corner of the Hunter abilities is one called “Beast Master.” Obviously you’ll need a spare ability point to unlock it. With one point in the Beast Master power, you can tame wolves to fight alongside you. As you level it up further, you’ll be able to also tame wild cats too, right up to lions, although only one animal at a time and no Elite animals.
How to Use the Beast Master Ability to Tame Animals
The only way to tame animals is to first knock them out, much like how you recruit new lieutenants for your ship. It doesn’t sound the best way to start a friendship, but it’s better than putting a sword through their head (or getting teeth to your neck). It’s a little more difficult with wolves than people, because you can’t sneak up on them. Instead, you’ll have to knock them out in combat.
The best way to do this in melee combat is to unequip your weapons and go into the fight unarmed. Make sure you’re only facing one animal when you do this! The Spartan Kick also helps a lot, as that’s a powerful non-lethal move. Paralyzing arrows, once you’ve bought the Arrow Master ability, will also help pacify hostile animals.
Then, once it’s unconscious, a prompt should come up saying “Tame Animal,” which of course you want to do after all that. Congratulations, the wolf is now your friend! Try not to get them killed…
