The Black Ops 4 Black Market customization system has been confirmed by Treyarch and Activision. The Black Market customization system has been in previous Call of Duty titles and acts as a store where players can spend their hard-earned CoD Points. It’s no different in Call of Duty Black Ops 4. The Black Market is coming to Black Ops 4 soon, too, so pay attention to what follows if you want to learn all there is to know about it. There’s a lot to get through here, so stick with us.
Black Ops 4 Black Market Release Date
Thanks go to CharlieIntel for breaking the news. The Black Ops 4 Black Market is beginning today on PS4. That’s right. PS4 players will be able to search the store and take part in special timed events later on tonight, October 19. The customization system is due to release on Xbox One and PC exactly one week later on October 26, 2018. Sony and Activision did say that the PS4 version of the game will get new content first, after all.
Black Ops 4 Black Market – What is it?
The Black Market in Black Ops 4 will be your one-stop shop for all things signature, exclusive characters, and in-game events. “The Black Market serves as the one-stop shop for awesome gear and new ways to express yourself in Black Ops 4.” It “brings big changes to give players more options to earn and enjoy new content. It starts with players having more choice than ever.” Similar features existed in Black Ops 3 and WW2. Black Ops 4 players have been asking for more customization, and Treyarch and Activision are adding it in. You’ll be able to unlock new gear and customization options in a variety of ways, but the Contraband Stream sounds like the most fully-featured one of the lot.
Black Ops 4 Black Market Contraband Stream – What is it?
The Contraband Stream in the Black Market sounds a little different to what has come before in previous Call of Duty games. It should, however, be familiar to those of us playing Fortnite and Rocket League. Much like Fortnite’s Battle Pass and Rocket League’s Rocket Pass, you will unlock new gear simply by playing the game. “The Contraband Stream in the Black Market provides a progression path to earn the items you want simply by playing the game. That means a ton of new ways to show off your personal style.”
These Contraband items will be distributed via the completion of in-game seasonal events. The first Operation begins today on PS4, called “Operation First Strike.” Events such as this will take place every few months according to Activision. You’ll be able to tackle the season Operations in Multiplayer and Blackout. The full list of rewards available in Operations can be found below:
- New characters for Blackout (will be made available as part of each Operation).
- Signature Weapons.
- Specialist Outfits: Customization content “built around themes for all Specialists in-game.” We’ll be able to “mix and match the look of [our] character within outfit sets, too.
- New Tags and Gestures.
Simply by taking part in the in-game events will award you with new gear and the like. The more you play and the better you do in them, however, and the better the gear you’ll unlock.
Black Ops 4 Black Market Special Events – What are They?
As we explained above, every few months, there will be specially themed limited time events taking place in Black Ops 4. The first of these is starting on October 20, 2018, on PS4. In it, “players will have access to a free Halloween-themed Special Event stream with even more gear. That means players can earn even more items as they progress along the stream.” Activision adds that “this is the first of many Special Events that will be hosted in the future. But remember, get in and earn them while they’re available as they’ll only be around for a limited time.”
Black Ops 4 Black Market Blackjack’s Shop – What is it?
If everything above wasn’t enough, Treyarch is also adding in a shop to Black Ops 4. Blackjack’s Shop is where we’ll be able to spend our CoD Points and other in-game currency on new gear and such. “This is the place to go for direct purchase of certain pieces of gear with limited availability.” Activision explains, however, that Blackjack’s Shop will be refreshed weekly “with a variety of items,” which “gives players another way to get cool content.” Finally, we’ll be able to spend those CoD points that came with pre-orders of the game.
