Red Dead Redemption 2 Grow Hair Faster, Visit a Barber, and Hairstyle List

In Red Dead Redemption 2 you’ll find that your character’s hair actually grows. Their mustache, beard, and hair will all grow with the passage of time, but you may want to speed it up. On the other hand, if it gets too long, you’ll want to find where to visit a barber and check out the list of hairstyles available. Below we’ve got all you need to know about hair in RDR2.

How to Grow Your Hair Faster in Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 Grow Long Beard

RDR2 features a full hair growth system that finally gives a realistic indicator of the passage of time. Gone are the days where you take a bald CJ to the barber, and you can somehow instantly have him grow an afro. If you want a particular hairstyle in Red Dead Redemption 2, you’re going to have to actually wait for Arthur’s hair to grow and then go to the barber.

If you’re the kind of player who loves to mix and match clothing and hairstyles (like me), then Arthur’s hair might grow a little too slow for your liking. Fortunately, there’s a handy little item you can use that will increase your character’s hair growth and get that long, bushy, wild look you desire. You can pick up Hair Tonic in any General Store, and it will boost the speed at which your character’s hair grows.

Hair Tonic is easy to use once you’ve bought (or found) some. Just hold right on the d-pad to open your satchel. You then need to scroll over to “Kit” and there you’ll see the Hair Tonic. You can then press X or A to use it.

One thing to note is that there are 7 lengths of head hair and 10 lengths of facial hair. To get to hair length 7 or facial hair length 9 and 10 you’ll actually have to use Hair Tonic, as your character’s hair will not grow that long on its own.

How to Visit a Barber in Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 Saint Denis Barber

There are barbers in each of the larger settlements in Red Dead Redemption 2.

You can find a barber in:

  • Saint Denis
  • Strawberry
  • Valentine

Each barber has access to the full array of hairstyles in RDR2, so you don’t have to worry about visiting one over the other.

If you just want to trim your facial hair, you don’t have to visit a barber. Most of your hideouts have a grooming area located close to your bed so you can keep that beard from going wild if you so choose.
