We’re in the midst of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and many of you are wondering if Smash Ultimate PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions will ever come out. The latest in the long-running series of Nintendo and friends mascot brawler sees every character return, with a handful of new faces thrown into the mix for good measure. Is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Switch exclusive? Or will it become multiplatform? We reveal all.
Is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Switch Exclusive?
As of writing, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is not on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It is a game that’s exclusive to Nintendo Switch. The Super Smash Bros. series of games groups together various characters from throughout Nintendo’s history and current lineup of games. As long as Nintendo still produces its own consoles, the Super Smash Bros. series will remain a constant exclusive. It’s a hugely popular game, too. We wouldn’t be surprised to see sales of Nintendo Switch rise alongside the release of Smash Ultimate.
Will Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Ever Become Multiplatform?
It’s incredibly unlikely that we’ll ever see Super Smash Bros. Ultimate become a multiplatform game. Nintendo only develops games for its own consoles, and on occasion, for smartphones. While we wouldn’t be surprised to see some kind of Smash Bros. game make its way onto smartphones in the future, we would bet our houses on the fact that it won’t become available for purchase on the PS4, Xbox One, or PC.
The only way a game like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate would be playable on PS4, Xbox One, and PC is if either Nintendo goes bust a la Sega back in the day, or through hacks. Neither of those options look like happening any time soon, however. For the foreseeable future, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will remain a Switch exclusive.
