Fortnite 7.10 Update Patch Notes (Fortnite 1.97 Patch Notes PS4)

The Fortnite 7.10 update patch notes (Fortnite 1.97 update patch notes PS4) have now been shared by Epic Games. As is normally the case, the developer was providing hints at the upcoming patch notes on social media, with teases of the (now delayed) Driftboard. The official Twitter account has also detailed that there will be downtime starting at 5 AM ET (10 AM UTC), which will likely last 1-2 hours. These new Fortnite update patch notes reveal the additional changes being made during Season 7, which includes the 14 Days of Fortnite limited time mode, new weapon changes, and gameplay tweaks. Read on for the full details.

Fortnite 7.10 Update Patch Notes (Fortnite 1.97 PS4) – 14 Days of Fortnite

Fortnite 1.97 Update Patch Notes

The major change coming with the Fortnite 7.10 update (1.97 on PS4) is the 14 Days of Fortnite limited time mode. Beginning on December 19, players will see different featured modes, with new and old LTMs appearing every 24 hours. Large team modes will switch every two days, while small team modes will rotate every day.

Fortnite 7.10 Update Patch Notes (Fortnite 1.97 PS4) – Heavy Assault Rifle Changes

Fortnite 1.97 Update Patch Notes

The Fortnite Heavy Assault Rifle has received some attention in the Fortnite 7.10 update (1.97 on PS4). Its effectiveness while not aiming down the sights has been reduced, while aiming down the sights stats largely remain the same. ADS accuracy has been bumped up by 10 percent, and accuracy while standing still has also been increased by 10 percent. Vertical recoil has been decreased by six percent, but base accuracy has been crippled by 30 percent. If you fire the weapon while jumping and falling, you’ll notice a drop of 60 percent in accuracy!

Fortnite 7.10 Update Patch Notes (Fortnite 1.97 PS4) – Balloon and Glider Redeploy Changes

Fortnite 1.97 Update Patch Notes

Balloon controls have been improved in the Fortnite 7.10 update (1.97 on PS4). While in the air, balloons can now be released by pushing the crouch button (this was previously the jump button). What’s more, players can now use Alt-Fire to release a balloon when the balloon item is selected.

The height at which a glider redeploy action becomes available has also been tweaked. It has been decreased from 1000 units to 576 units. This gives redeploying users a bit of an advantage, following some devastating nerfs.

Fortnite 7.10 Update Patch Notes (Fortnite 1.97 PS4) –  More Gameplay Changes

Other gameplay changes featured in the Fortnite 7.10 update include ground vehicles now sliding on icy surfaces. Eliminations from no-scoping enemies with sniper rifles now show up in the elimination feed, adding some additional humiliation. Successful landing a vehicle on all four wheels will no longer damage the player inside. It’s also now easier to pick up items dropped near a mounted turret.

Stormwings have also been nerfed, taking 50 percent more damage from hitting objects. The damage that players take from when a Stormwing explodes has also been increased to 50, up from 25. (This is to health and not shields.) Stormwings will also take more damage when destroying structures by flying right through them.

Fortnite 7.10 Update Patch Notes (Fortnite 1.97 PS4) – Creative Mode Winter Theme

Fortnite 1.97 Update Patch Notes

Winter has come to the Fortnite Creative Mode. Once the Fortnite 7.10 update (1.97 on PS4) has been installed, players will find four new winter-themed islands that can be selected on the starter island. In addition to this, six new Winter Village prefabs are now available. Also, new Holiday prop packs, new cube colors in the Cube Gallery prefab, logs and stumps in the Nature Gallery, a Winter Nature Gallery, additional rams and floors in the Obstacle Gallery, have all been added.

If you’re interested in taking advantage of new devices, you’ll want to check out the Gunner. This tool stands and shoots at any player within a two tile radius. It comes in pistol, shotgun, assault rifle, and rocket launcher variants.

To help give you space to create, Epic Games has increased the total number of “The Block” islands to two instead of one.

Fortnite 7.10 Update Patch Notes (Fortnite 1.97 PS4) –  Mobile Changes

The Fortnite mobile versions have also received improvements specific to the platform, with the Fortnite 7.10 update updating UI buttons. The HUD settings  tab has been made visible for mobile players, icons have been updated to be more visible in the snow, and the Exit Vehicle button has been moved to a new location.

60 FPS is now available for iPad Pro second generation. Game support for new Snapdragon chipsets (710 and 670), as well as the Samsung A9, has also been introduced, meaning more mobile players should be dropping down to the island soon!

Fortnite 7.10 Update Patch Notes (Fortnite 1.97 PS4) – Save the World Frostnite

Fortnite 1.97 Update Patch Notes

Save the World players have also got a lot to look forward to with the Fortnite 7.10 update (1.97 on PS4). “Frostnite” tests players’ survival skills during a long winter night. This mode introduces a new objective. Players must keep the Burner filled with scavenged BluGlo. This is a test to see who can last the longest before the cold takes over. As the Burner’s health decreases, the Storm Shield shrinks.

The longer players survive in the Frostnite mode, the more Snowflake Tickets they will earn. These can be spent on the new Winter Llama.

Save the World changes also include Down Tier Crafting, which enables schematics that have been evolved to higher tiers to now also craft all of the lower tier versions of the weapon or trap. This means players can use up old crafting ingredients and save the rarer stuff for when it really matters. Epic Games hopes that this will make transitioning into a new location a much smoother process.

A new stat called “Armor” replaces Damage Resistance. Any hero or weapon perks that were granted Damage Resistance have now been updated to have Armor. Individual Perks have now received a boost as a result, but the advantages seen when stacking have been reduced.

If you’re annoyed by these changes, don’t fret, as Epic Games will soon be allowing an evolution refund for all heroes and weapon schematics affected by the change. Players opting for a refund will see the item return to level 1 and all attached perks will go back to their starting rarity. All invested resources will be returned.
