Fallout 76 players continue to find plenty of problems in Bethesda’s online multiplayer game. One of the latest ones to be found is the Fallout 76 duplication glitch exploit. So, what is the Fallout 76 duplication glitch exploit, and how do you dupe items in Fallout 76?
What is the Fallout 76 Duplication Glitch Exploit?
First mentioned on the game’s Reddit page in late November, the Fallout 76 duplication glitch exploit allows players to duplicate the same item over and over again until they have hundreds of them filling their inventories.
It wouldn’t normally be a problem if there was either a fix for this issue, or if other players weren’t using it to their advantage. Unfortunately, Bethesda have been unable to prevent the glitch from returning. This Reddit thread from a fortnight ago shows that the glitch hasn’t gone away completely.
Meanwhile, players are using the glitch as an exploit to make tons of legendary weapons, armor, and vital items such as medicine and food. It’s giving them an unfair advantage, and making other Fallout 76 players feel like they can’t compete in a game that’s supposed to be fair for everyone.
How to Perform the Fallout 76 Duplication Glitch Exploit
So you want to know how to do this yourself, huh? We shouldn’t really tell you but, if everyone else is doing it, you need to level the playing field.
Firstly, you’ll have to have acquired the artillery plan. You can get this by completing the Brotherhood of Steel quests, or buying it at Watoga Shopping Plaza. You will then have to pair up with a friend to complete the exploit. Make your friend build the artillery item when you’re both on the same server.
Next, put the item you want duplicated in the artillery smoke grenade box, which is located next to the artillery item. Don’t close this box, or it’ll ruin the glitch. Make your friend leave the game so that the artillery disappears. Remove every item from the smoke grenade box, before inviting your friend back to your server. The artillery will return, and your items will be duplicated.
One final warning, though: cheating in Fallout 76 isn’t encouraged, even if it is exploiting something everyone is using. Hopefully bans aren’t imminent for this, but people have been banned for less.
