A new cour is just around the corner but, still, that doesn’t account for the Sword Art Online Alicization episode 13 air date to go MIA. There’s a reason for that, as you’ll soon find out. Here’s when you can watch Sword Art Online Alicization episode 13, and how to watch it, in case you’re in need of a quick binge to catch up before the new subbed release date.
When is the Sword Art Online Alicization Episode 13 Air Date?
With the show having aired every Saturday via Crunchyroll, it might be a bit baffling to see that December 29 wasn’t home to SAO: Alicization episode 13. Instead, we’ll actually be getting a short break from the world of Integrity Knights, Call Systems, and more. However, it’s not a long hiatus: the Sword Art Online Alicization episode 13 air date is set for January 5.

Not only will that end the current cour (so, y’know, we get a new OP real soon plus a bunch of other dramatic goings-on in episode 13), but the second chapter after “Beginning” will premiere on January 12. Those who were wary of a massive gap between chapters can rest easy. It appears SAO is showing no signs of slowing down as we reach 2019. Both will be streamed with subs as normal on CrunchyRoll, alongside all prior episodes.
Why Was the Sword Sword Art Online Alicization Episode 13 Air Date Delayed?
There doesn’t appear to be an official reason for the delay, especially as it’s neither the start of a new chapter and the second cour begins the week after, but it would make sense for the show to take some downtime during the holiday season. After all, fewer eyes would have been on it over Christmas and New Year. Plus, absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that. I think we can go without Kirito and Asuna for just one week, right?
