Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who’s the quickest Apex Legends character of them all? If you’re looking to find out which Apex Legends run speed is the fastest of all the Legends, this is the guide for you. Read on to discover which Legend is the fastest in Apex Legends. We’ll also go through some tips and tricks on how to move faster below, too.
Apex Legends Run Speed | Who is the quickest Apex Legends character?
If you’re looking to get the upper hand on your opponents via the running speed of your chosen character, you might have to think again. Each of the eight Legends in Apex Legends share the same run speed. We know this thanks to strenuous testing by YouTuber T_status, so a hearty hat tip to them. That’s right. Big old Gibraltar runs at the same speed as the lithe Wraith.
According to T_status, each character will sprint 68 meters in around 9.2 seconds when your weapon is holstered. This means that each Legend in Apex Legends has a running speed of 7.4 m/s. Characters look faster and slower than one another thanks to hand and arm animation speeds. So while you may feel slower as Gibraltar, you will actually be running at the same speed as anyone else.
There are different ways to increase and decrease your running speed, however. Above, is how fast you will run when you are not holding a gun, for example.
Apex Legends Run Speed | Holstered vs armed movement speed
We all know that you run faster in Apex Legends when you are not holding a weapon. The game tells you as much during the tutorial. What’s interesting, however, is that no matter what gun you have equipped, your running speed will always remain the same.
To explain, according to T_status, whether you are holding a pistol, LMG, or anything else, and your running speed will be reduced by the same amount. It doesn’t matter at all how big or small your gun is. Again, we’re pretty certain it is just a trick of the mind. You will look like you are running slower when holding a beefy LMG compared to when you are holding a pistol, but your running speed will actually remain the same. Wall climbing speeds aren’t affected at all by whether or not you are holding a weapon, too.
To holster your weapon, simply hold the Triangle or Y button. You will be around 15 percent faster when you aren’t holding a gun. When armed, you will sprint at a speed of 6.5 m/s, no matter what gun you are holding. You can, however, receive speed boosts when playing as certain Legends.
Apex Legends Run Speed | Character abilities and ultimates
Depending on what character you choose, you will be able to run faster than normal for short periods of time. Each Legend has its own list of tactical and passive abilities alongside ultimate skills. Below, we’ve gathered together all of the Legends that come equipped with movement speed altering abilities:
- Bangalore: Passive ability / Double Time: You will sprint faster when getting shot.
- Bloodhound: Ultimate / Beast of the Hunt: You move faster and will highlight your enemies.
- Wraith: Tactical ability / Into the Void: Warp quickly avoiding damage. Ultimate / Dimensional Rift: Link two locations together with portals for 60 seconds (move quickly through two locations).
Each of these abilities and ultimates will increase your running speed, but for a limited time only. Other abilities can add extra speed to your character, too, but not in running speed. Pathfinder, for example, can create ziplines and use a grappling hook to get to areas far quicker than normal.
Based on this information, you could argue that Bangalore, Bloodhound, Pathfinder, and Wraith are the quickest characters in Apex Legends. Remember though, each of their base running speed is exactly the same as anyone else.
Apex Legends Run Speed | Other ways to move quickly through the map
While it won’t actually alter your run speed, increasing or decreasing your FOV (field of view) will make it seem like it is changing things. For example, if your FOV is set at 70, the game will feel slower than it does if your FOV is set to 110. Making your FOV setting higher won’t actually make you run faster, but it should make it feel like you are, which could make you play better if you’re finding the game a little clunky.
Sliding will make you move faster, especially down hills. While sprinting, simply press the Circle or B button and you will slide. You can slide uninterrupted down entire hills, no matter how big or small they may be, which is perfect for when you need to get somewhere (or away from someone) quickly.
