Borderlands 3 Fiona | Is Tales from the Borderlands Fiona in the game?

Borderlands 3 is real and it’s out this September, and fans have been delving through the game’s various trailers in search of secrets and possible new characters. We’ve gone through all the returning characters from previous Borderlands games that we know about, but there’s one person fans particularly want to see: Fiona, one of the main characters from Telltale’s Tales from the Borderlands. Has a Borderlands 3 Fiona appearance been confirmed? If not, how likely is she to appear? Let’s have a look.

Who is Fiona?

Fiona is one of the two main playable characters in Tales from the Borderlands, the adventure game spin-off of Gearbox’s loot shooter series by Telltale Games, and many consider it the developer’s best game. She’s a con artist and native of Pandora, the main planet from Borderlands 1 and 2, and was caught up in a plot (most of which was her fault) to counterfeit a Vault Key and eventually stop the mysterious Gortys Project.

Can we expect to see Fiona in Borderlands 3?

The ending of Tales from the Borderlands saw both Fiona and other main character Rhys enter one of the mysterious Vaults, disappearing as they do so, and players had no idea what happened next. As far as we’re aware, Fiona is still alive, although her whereabouts are unknown. She hasn’t yet been confirmed for Borderlands 3, and hasn’t appeared in any of the game’s trailers.

So why do players think she’s likely to turn up? Because Rhys, who entered the Vault with Fiona at the end of Tales from the Borderlands Episode 5, is definitely returning in Borderlands 3. This was confirmed by Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford, and Rhys made a notable appearance in the game’s announcement trailer. Rhys’ best friend Vaughn also seems to be coming back, so it’s very likely that Fiona and maybe even her sister Sasha will show up at some point. If true, we’re betting she’ll probably appear in a trailer at some point prior to release. She’s too beloved a character to keep secret.
