Team Sonic Racing Rings

Team Sonic Racing Rings | Why do you need to collect Rings?

Team Sonic Racing, the latest kart racing game from Sega set in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe, is out now, and there are many holdovers from other Sonic games. There’s the range of 15 characters exclusively from the Sonic universe, power-ups based on the Wisps from Sonic Colors and Sonic Forces, and of course, Sonic’s iconic golden rings. You can pick up these Team Sonic Racing rings on the tracks, but what do they actually do?

What are Team Sonic Racing rings?

The golden rings that are so completely linked with Sonic the Hedgehog and his games make an appearance in Team Sonic Racing despite not being seen in the previous Sega kart racing game Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Transformed. They can be found at scattered intervals on the tracks in the new game, usually in a row so you can collect a lot of them at once. There is no dying in races, so what do these rings do?

Why do you need to collect rings in Team Sonic Racing?

There are a number of reasons to collect as many rings as you can during a race on Team Sonic Racing, as they do serve a purpose that will help you out. The first (and most boring) reason to collect the rings is that they increase your score at the end of the race. This helps during a grand prix, but final position counts a lot more.

The second reason is more important: The more rings you have, the higher your maximum speed will be. In this way, rings work exactly as coins do in the Mario Kart games, and if you have a lot you can quickly find a race turning in your direction. On the other hand, if you get hit by an enemy power-up you can lose almost all your rings, so try your best not to let that happen.
