	Successfully achieve all 27 rankings in the game and you will be rewarded with the international flag face paints from Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence.

	EZ Gun On Any Difficulty

	Throughout the game, there are many plants and fauna to collect. If you are able to successfully capture one of each type in the game ( 48 in total), you will unlock the EZ gun. The EZ gun is normally only available on easy mode. It gives you a minimum camo of 80%, has unlimited ammo and is a silenced tranquilizer that will restore your stamina as long as it is equipped. You only have to obtain one of each type of plant/animal, and not actually eat them. The EZ gun does count as a special item so will disqualify you from obtaining some of the higher ranks in the game.


	EZ Gun on All Difficulties - Collect all the flora/fauna in the game

	Camera

	When you break out of the jail cell in Groznyj Grad, check the office across the hallway. You can acquire a camera that can take photos at any point in the mission. Beat the game, and it'll automatically be added to your inventory on your next playthrough.

	Infinity Face Paint

	Before reaching Groznyj Grad, be sure to capture a Tsuchinoko alive. Keep it in a cage and do not eat it. After you reclaim your equipment at the waterfall, you'll have to recapture it in the same area. If you have a live Tsuchinoko in your inventory when you beat the game, you'll unlock the Infinity Face Paint, which gives all of your weapons infinite ammunition.

	Stealth Camouflage

	If you beat the game with absolutely no Alert Modes, you'll unlock the Stealth Camouflage. When equipped, it renders Snake invisible to guards.

	Rankings

	Depending on your performance during the mission, you'll unlock rankings after beating the game.


	Chameleon - Beat the game with no Alert Modes.


	Eagle - Beat the game in five hours or less.


	Panther - Beat the game with 50 or less continues, 36 or more Alert Modes, and 101 or more kills.


	Scorpion - Beat the game with 50 or less continues, 35 or less Alert Modes, and 100 or less kills.


	Tarantula - Beat the game with 50 or less Continues, 35 or less Alert Modes, and 101 or more kills.


	Tortoise - Complete the game with 20 or less Serious Injuries.


	Tsuchinoko - Beat the game with a live Tsuchinoko in your inventory.


	Yoshi - Beat the game and shoot every Yoshi figure. Multiple clears are allowed.

	Facepaints and Camos

	Aside from the camos and paints you can find during the mission, several can be obtained after beating the game.


	AUSCAM Pattern Camo - Beat the game.


	Banana Pattern Camo - Beat the game.


	Brown Face Paint - Beat the game.


	Desert Tiger Pattern Camo - Beat the game.


	DPM Pattern Camo - Beat the game.

	Boss Camos

	If you defeat a boss by deleting its stamina gauge or other tricks, you'll unlock bonus camos with unique abilities.


	Animals Camo - Beat Ocelot by reducing his stamina gauge to zero.


	Cold War Camo - Defeat Volgin by reducing his stamina gauge to zero.


	Fire Camo - Defeat The Fury by reducing his stamina gauge to zero.


	Hornet Stripe Camo - Defeat The Pain by reducing his stamina gauge to zero.


	Moss Camo - Sneak up on The End and hold him up with a weapon.


	Snake Camo - Defeat The Boss by reducing her stamina gauge to zero.


	Spider Camo - Defeat The Fear by reducing his stamina gauge to zero.


	Spirit Camo - Defeat The Sorrow by reaching the end of the river.

	I like... Unlockables

	To unlock these, choose the specified phrase when starting a new game.


	AUSCAM Camo. - Choose "I like MGS1!"


	Banana Camo. - Choose "I like MGS PEACE WALKER!"


	Desert Tiger Camo and Raiden Mask in the intro cutscene. - Choose "I like MGS2!"


	DPM Camo. - Choose "I like MGS4!"


	Flecktarn Camo, Green and Brown facepaints. - Choose "I like MGS3!"


	Grenade Camo. - Chose "I like all the MGS games!"


	Mummy Camo. - Choose "I'm playing MGS for the first time!"

	Secrets

	Confusing Volgin

	As soon as you start the fight against Volgin, equip the Raikov Mask. Volgin will then become confused, allowing you to walk right up to him and start attacking.

	Skip The End Battle

	As soon as you start the battle with The End, save your game and quit. Go to the 3DS menu settings and change the system date to over one week in the future. When you return to the game, you'll find that The End has died of old age, allowing you to continue without fighting him.

	Escape The Jail Cell Easily

	During the part where Snake is locked up in a jail cell, access your radio and set the frequency to 144.75. Doing so automatically unlocks the cell door.

	Skip The Sorrow Battle

	During the battle with The Sorrow, immediately lie down in the water. You'll eventually drown, thus prompting the Game Over screen. Instead of choosing the usual options, use the Revival Pill in your inventory; doing so skips the entire fight and allows you to continue the mission.

	Kill The End Early

	After walking through the cave and the river at Ponizovje, you'll see a cutscene. As soon as the cutscene ends, equip your SVD sniper rifle and aim it at The End. If you shoot quickly and accurately enough, you can kill The End and skip his boss battle later on. There will be a platoon of soldiers to fight instead.

	Twirl the Colt Single Action Army!

	Once you get the Single Action Army, you can twirl it by moving the 3DS system while in FPS aiming mode. This allows you to show off Snake's skill with a revolver and distract Ocelot during your duel with him at Bolshaya Past Crevice. When you're in the open, twirl your revolver and Ocelot will respond with his own revolver tricks and commentary.

	Reloading Faster

	Some weapons, such as the RPG-7, take a long time to reload. To skip the extra reloading animations, just equip another weapon, and then immediately switch back.

	Easter Eggs

	Figurines In Granin's Office

	During the cutscene in Granin's office, use the camera to pan around the room. You'll find figurines of Metal Gear REX, Metal Gear RAY, and Jehuty, which are from the previous Metal Gear Solid and Zone of the Enders games respectively.
