Bethesda and id Software have revealed more details about the Doom Eternal DLC that will be coming to the game post-launch. If you’re wondering when the Doom Eternal expansion release date will be, and how you can unlock it, you’re in luck. Read our Doom Eternal DLC guide for the complete rundown on this extra content.
Doom Eternal DLC | Release date
As you might have gathered, there’s no concrete release date for the Doom Eternal DLC yet. Bethesda and id Software only announced the main game’s launch date at its E3 press conference on June 9. That means that any hopes of learning about the DLC release will be some way off.
What we do know is that it will be coming in Year One of Doom Eternal. With that ballpark date penciled in, we should expect to see the DLC land between November 22, 2019, and November 22, 2020.
Doom Eternal DLC | Single-player or multiplayer?
We also know that the Doom Eternal DLC will be an extension of the Doom Slayer’s arc in this follow-up to the 2016 reboot. As part of the Year One Pass, players will be given two single-player expansions that continue Doom Eternal‘s story.
We have no idea what this DLC will entail plot-wise, but we’ll be sure to find out at some point in the six months after the game’s launch. That will give players enough time to play the sequel before Bethesda goes and potentially spoils its ending with a formal announcement about the DLC’s story.
Doom Eternal DLC | How to unlock
In order to get the DLC for yourself, you’ll need to buy one of the special editions of the game. You will be given the Year One Pass as part of the Doom Eternal deluxe version or collector’s edition. The collector’s edition is sold out on the US Amazon store now though, so you’ll have to try other retailers to grab a copy.
If you buy the standard edition, however, you won’t be given this as part of the deal. Instead, you’ll have to purchase the DLC separately and download it when it’s available.
