Cadence of Hyrule Co-Op | Does it have multiplayer?

Cadence of Hyrule is a fun and frantic rhythm game from Brace Yourself Games, the team behind 2015’s indie hit, Crypt of the NecroDancer. In the latest spin-off of the Legend of Zelda series, players will take on the role of the hero as they dance their way to victory. But can you play the game with a friend, or is Cadence of Hyrule co-op multiplayer just a pipe dream? In this guide, we’ll go over everything you need to know about multiplayer in Cadence of Hyrule and discuss whether it’s even a thing.

Cadence of Hyrule Co-Op | Does it have multiplayer?

One of the best things about rhythm games is the ability to team up with your friends and play through the game. Thankfully, Brace Yourself Games has been great enough to develop Cadence of Hyrule with a completely working co-op mode. You’ll be able to play the cooperative version of the game directly from the start, or once the player has discovered another character.

To start up a co-op game, you’re going to need to have found a second character. One way to do this is by getting the Hibiscus Potion and waking up Zelda or Link (whichever character you didn’t choose at the start). If you prefer to start from the very beginning with a friend, then you can exit to the Main Menu and look for the “New Game 2P” option at the bottom of the menu. Clicking on this will allow you to set up a game with a pal, making it easy to explore Hyrule’s latest adventure with some company.

You will need wireless controllers (or the Joy-Cons) to use the two-player mode. Keep that in mind as you’re setting things up and make sure you have plenty of controllers for you and your friend. Of course, two-player mode can be played with the Nintendo Switch undocked, but it will be much easier to navigate on a larger screen using the Switch’s dock.

Now that you’ve learned how to play co-op in Cadence of Hyrule, it’s time to get out there and start saving the kingdom, one temple at a time.
