While a lot of smartphone games don’t need to be connected to the internet in order for you to play them, some unfortunately do. Sadly, you will need to be connected to the internet at all times in order to play Dr. Mario World. This means that you will need to be connected online either through WiFi or via a data connection. We’d strongly recommend playing Dr. Mario World only when you’re connected online via WiFi if you want to save your data for other things.

Dr. Mario World won’t boot up properly if you try to play it if you aren’t online at all. Trust us, we’ve tried it more than a few times. If you try to play any Dr. Mario World offline modes without being connected online, the game will greet you with an error message screen. You’ll see the blasted Error Code: 0009 “a communications error has occurred. Please try again later” message and you won’t be able to play the game.

Strangely, however, the Stage Mode is Dr. Mario World’s offline mode. You won’t be able to play through this without being connected to the internet. This is likely because the game features multiple instances of needing to be online. Updating Orders (with rewards and timers), the Shop, and more will all require the internet to work properly. So no, you cannot play Dr. Mario World offline at all.
