As you make a mad dash across the 2D landscape, be on the lookout for boxes scattered throughout the environment. Inside is one of eight power-ups that'll give you that all-important edge. The list includes bear traps to rip opponents, saw blades that chop them in two, a speed boost, a lightning strike that shocks enemies and a protective shield that makes you invincible for six seconds. Just run into a box to pick up one of these items, then press the left button to activate it.
