Fish Out Of Water Fish FAQ

Every fish in Halfbrick's latest iOS game behaves differently. Fish Out of Water is all about throwing different fish and seeing how far they skip right? Well no two fish fly alike in this game. We've got the details and tips for each of your scaled friends.

Finlay the Dolphin - Finlay dives and leaps, over and over until he's all out of gas. The easiest mistake you might make with Finlay is being a little overzealous with your throw. Chuck him at the wrong angle and Finlay will actually run into the sandy bottom of the screen, greatly inhibiting him and cutting his speed drastically. Don't let Finlay take a blowhole full of sand for you! Treat him right and throw him mostly horizontally.

Micro the Whale - Micro is hardly micro at all, so it's no wonder that he catches air at greater heights than any other fish in the game. This means you can forget scoring a lot of skips with this guy. I only use him if my distance needs padding for the judges, but your use may vary. Make sure to flick Micro out and up so he catches a lot of distance on each bounce.

The Brothers Minnows - These guys aren't really minnows... I don't know... that's just what I see when I throw them and they split into four. Like a school of fish, the Brothers will give you a ton of skips, but very little distance. Be aware of this and only use them when you need to even out your score for that one skip-crazy judge.

Olympus the Clown Fish - Again, I don't know if that's what this guy is supposed to be, but he likes to skip on the surface quite a bit. Olympus is the most well-rounded fish. If you're score is great and you just want to extend your distance and add a few skips, Olympus is your fish. While I do like Finlay a lot, Olympus offers a guaranteed average score on his throw. Don't try to arc him as it'll slow him down, but a solid toss as if you were skipping a stone will send Olympus skipping for quite a while.

Errol the Blowfish - The defining characteristic for errol is that he likes to bounce. Give him a good forward motion and he'll spring from wave to wave like a basketball out to sea. I like Errol a lot as he is another well-rounded fish, but I feel like I can get higher scores with him. It just depends on your style but Errol or Olympus should make up the backbone of your team.

Rocket the whatever - I don't care about Rocket. I think this fish sucks and if I use him I never get good scores. Rocket requires a very precise throw to maximize his skipping ability. You'll get plenty of skips, but maybe not enough distance. Stormy weather can destroy his performance, as skips going up a wave greatly hinder Rocket's forward motion and therefore his skips suffer too. Don't use Rocket.

That's all the fish for now, but Halfbrick might add more later, so bookmark our page! Be sure to check our other Fish Out of Water FAQs and keep flinging.
