Multiple reports are coming through stating that we have a Spotify music not playing situation, with the music app seemingly down for some users. Users struggling with the app claim that their saved playlists are not appearing, and attempts to play music result in skipped songs and a failure to load more than a few seconds of music. If you’re big into music, then these problems are no doubt infuriating. Here’s what you need to know about a possible fix.
Is Spotify down?| Why is my music not playing?
Spotify has had these kinds of issues before, with the app freezing and refusing to play music. This time around, however, the problems have expanded to include music libraries to partially vanish. At the time of writing, the official Spotify account hasn’t acknowledged the issues.

In my case, closing and reopening the software fixed the issue. If you’re seeing issues, I’d recommend you also try closing the software entirely, before then clicking the Spotify icon and checking to see if everything is back to normal.
Another troubleshooting tip is to reinstall the Spotify software. You can head to Control Panel, uninstall Spotify, and then reinstall it from the official website. This may solve the issue.
If the above still isn’t working for you, you could try using another device. For example, if the PC app isn’t playing music, you can try the app on your phone while you wait for the Spotify team to get the service working again.
If none of the above solves the problem, your best bet is to wait for a fix to be rolled out. Meanwhile, you could use YouTube or Apple Music as a temporary alternative.
Here’s hoping the folks behind Spotify can get everything back up and running soon!
