Fortnite Black Screen | What is going on with Fortnite?

A Fortnite black screen is preventing players from being able to access the game, with the game’s ‘The End’ live event sending the battle royale hurtling into a black hole as Epic Games gears up for season 11. So what’s going on with Fortnite and this black hole? When will players be able to jump in again? Let’s take a look.

Fortnite Black Screen | What’s going on with The End?

The Fortnite black screen isn’t anything to be alarmed by, though it is a huge event for the blockbuster game. A massive stunt orchestrated by Epic, the developer wanted to conclude Fortnite‘s current chapter with a cataclysmic world event. As such, players who hopped into the game’s servers during its ‘The End’ live event were greeted by a huge interstellar battle.

In case you missed the event live, multiple Fortnite YouTubers and Twitch streamers were on-hand to record the events as they happened. The End saw players being catapulted off its map as a giant explosion occurred at its center, sending them into space as its battlefield was sucked into a black hole. That included the Battle Bus, the familiar vehicle that transports players to the map ahead of each match.

After the map was sucked into the black hole, players were thrust to a black screen. They were only left with the option to quit the game, and after doing so they were stuck on the ‘Loggin in… Signing in to Epic services…’ screen.

The event can be viewed below, as recorded by YouTuber SypherPK:

Fortnite Black Screen | Epic Games launcher not working

As a result of Fortnite going down, it seems that Epic Games Launcher and the Epic Games Store is also having some issues. While we’ve found that the launcher is working as usual, many are finding themselves unable to play other Epic Games releases such as Borderlands 3.

Those experiencing issues with Epic Games are being met with the error message: “This service is temporarily unavailable, please try again later.” Others are also being hit by a 503 error. It seems that the launcher may be struggling under the weight of all the players attempting to jump into Fortnite and see what the deal is with the black hole.

When will Fortnite be back?

There’s no official word on when Fortnite will be back. Right now, the game’s official account has has pinned a livestream of The End event, showing the black hole splash screen in all its glory. Season 11 should follow shortly, along with a slew of changes to the game considering the huge events that have transpired in its latest live event.
