How to dance in Pokemon Sword and Shield

Nintendo, Game Freak, and The Pokemon Company have collaboratively built a beloved video game franchise that’s fun for players of all ages. The debut mainline entries on Nintendo Switch — Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield — are no exception, though there’s one new hidden feature that perhaps makes them even more joyous than usual. If you can’t resist getting down and striking a pose, here’s everything you need to know about how to dance in Pokemon Sword and Shield.

How do you dance in Pokemon Sword and Shield?

Although the job of a Pokemon Trainer can be grueling at times, especially when traveling long long distances while coming up against hostile monsters and rival Pokemon Trainers, that doesn’t seem to keep your choice of protagonist down. In both Sword and Shield, players will be able to choose between a male and a female lead character and then customize them to their exact liking, though regardless, everybody has the capacity to do a little dance.

It doesn’t matter where you are in-game, all you need to do is quickly rotate the left analog stick (used for movement) either clockwise or counterclockwise to make your character do a perfect pirouette. After continuing to do so for a short time, the player character will then strike a confident pose while facing the camera.

You might’ve discovered this for yourself completely by accident while messing around, but if you didn’t know, you do now! Dancing in Pokemon Sword and Shield doesn’t seem to serve any kind of specific gameplay purpose, rather it’s just a nice little Easter egg for players to enjoy. It can certainly be put to good use after some big moments, though, maybe by taking the time to rock out after winning an important gym battle.
