Borderlands 3 hotfix notes March 5 2020 update

Borderlands 3 Cistern of Slaughter Glitch | Is there a fix?

The Borderlands 3 Cistern of Slaughter glitch has been a cause of frustration for players since the game launched back in September. Gearbox Software and 2K Games’ anticipated looter-shooter was a huge sales success, but one area that’s fallen down, by comparison, is getting a fix pushed out for this annoying in-game issue. What exactly is the Cistern of Slaughter glitch in Borderlands 3, though? And is there a way for players to avoid or rectify it themselves? Here’s everything we know so far.

Is there a Borderlands 3 Cistern of Slaughter bug fix?

Borderlands 3 Cistern of Slaughter glitch

This irritating Borderlands 3 glitch is platform-agnostic, meaning that it can strike any player regardless of whether they’re trying to enjoy the game on PC, PS4, or Xbox One. Three Circle of Slaughter locations are in the game — including The Slaughter Shaft on Pandora and Slaughterstar 3000 on Nekrotafeyo — but the one place you specifically need to be concerned about is Promethea’s Cistern of Slaughter.

After navigating your way to the center of Meridian Metroplex, you should see an NPC with a quest marker. Accepting it and heading down via the elevator puts players into the Cistern of Slaughter, which is an arena-based challenge where five rounds of incoming enemies must be fended off in order to claim victory.

The issue can occur right at the end of all your hard work, should the game seemingly fail to register that you’ve defeated every enemy. Many players have reported that they’ve spotted invincible enemies stuck in geometry (such as walls and the ground), which is almost certain to be the cause of this problem. Since enemies can’t be defeated in their bugged state, players have no choice but to abandon the attempt, then either move on or try again while hoping for better luck.

As there’s no apparent way to influence the outcome — rather, whether or not you’ll be affected is decided by pure luck — we’d recommend avoiding the Cistern of Slaughter until a fix is hopefully implemented via a future Borderlands 3 patch.
