Following the ending of the Viking-themed anime, we’ve seen many of you asking will there be a Season 2 of Vinland Saga? In this guide, we’ll take a look at whether there will ever be a second season of the popular Amazon Prime Video exclusive anime. Will there be a Season 2 of Vinland Saga?
Fans of the Vinland Saga manga will know that episode 24 of the anime adaptation isn’t the end of the series. Far from it. Based on the English volumes of the manga, it seems the ending of Vinland Saga Season one only detailed events up to volume four of the original books. Following the events of the anime thus far, there are still three more story arcs to come. This means that not only Season two could happen, but also seasons three and four.

Of course, there are many factors to whether or not an anime receives a second season. Firstly, the demand has to be there. Considering that Vinland Saga has proven to be hugely popular, rivaling the likes of Fire Force and Dr. Stone, demand should be no problem. Unfortunately, no official confirmation has been made by the Vinland Saga creator or the studio behind the anime.
A Vinland Saga Season 2 does seem likely, however. Reliable anime leaker and rumor merchant Spytrue tweeted that Season 2 is in “the pipeline.” What’s more, however, is that the director tweeted that Thorfinn’s “story will” continue. The director adds that they hope Thorfinn “will meet many people, and his eyes truly open to see the vast world.” To add further fuel to the fire, the anime studio released a teaser, which you can watch below. This teaser showcases characters and events from future arcs and plots from Vinland Saga.

Vinland Saga Season 2 Release Date
Although we have no official confirmation of a second season for Vinland Saga, it does seem likely that it will happen at some point. Unfortunately, a potential Vinland Saga Season 2 release date (and episode 25 release date) could be as far off as 2021. This is because the animation studio behind the series currently has a full schedule, including Attack on Titan Season 4. A rumor that is backed by Spytrue.
Besides a potential Attack on Titan Season 4 getting in the way for WIT (the animation studio behind Vinland Saga), the studio is working on a number of other productions. The studio is supposedly working on Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress as well as Vampire in the Garden for Netflix and The Great Pretender, an original WIT production. Everything listed here could well prove to be Fall 2020 releases, too, leaving no time to squeeze Vinland Saga Season 2 in this year. It’s safe to say that WIT has its hands full before beginning work on Vinland Saga Season 2.
Based on these rumors and information, we can argue that any potential Vinland Saga Season 2 release date could be 2021 at the earliest. Given Amazon’s investment into the series, however, it could potentially be pushed forward a little, as a Winter or Spring anime release in 2021. Whatever the case, however, without any official word, everything stated here is rumor and conjecture. While it seems likely that Vinland Saga could premiere its second season in 2021, it is currently unknown if it will even happen for sure.
