Halo 6 release date

What is the Halo 6 release date?

Halo is arguably one of the few truly great gaming franchises, owing to both its consistent high quality and significance in establishing the Xbox platform. It’s only natural, then, that most players are eager to get their hands on Halo 6; especially since the latest mainline entry has already been showcased and confirmed for release on PC, Xbox One, and the all-new Xbox Series X. So, what is the Halo 6 release date? Here’s everything you need to know about when you could be set to get your hands on it.

When is Halo 6 coming out?

Halo 6 release date

Although there’s currently no exact Halo 6 release date, we do know that it’s scheduled to come out in 2020. A whole year is a big timeframe, but, thankfully, we can feasibly narrow that down by a fair bit.

Halo 6 is confirmed to be an Xbox Series X launch title, which means that it’ll most likely release during the 2020 holiday season. Historically, all Xbox consoles have launched in November and Series X could potentially continue that trend later this year.

Xbox console release dates

  • Xbox — November 15, 2001
  • Xbox 360 — November 22, 2005
  • Xbox One — November 22, 2013

This would perfectly position Halo 6 and Microsoft’s new console to receive strong initial sales in the approach to Christmas, which is a common marketing tactic. Although this isn’t confirmed at the time of writing — and most likely won’t be until at least E3 in summer — a November 2020 Halo 6 release date seems to be the most likely scenario here.

In the game, fan-favorite protagonist Master Chief will finally reprise his starring role. If you need to catch up on the story of John-117 and the Halo universe as a whole in preparation, picking up the Halo: Master Chief Collection comes highly recommended.
