Modern Warfare Warzone Pre-Load Download Size

Call of Duty: Warzone Preload | What is the Warzone download size?

It seems the Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale is finally coming tomorrow. Understandably, many fans will want to preload Warzone so they can play the new mode as soon as it hits. This is especially crucial because the download size for Warzone is pretty big.

The size of Modern Warfare updates is a meme at this point, and even if you have a speedy internet connection, preloading might take hours. The good news is that the mode may have already been at least partially loaded right under our noses.

Can I preload Warzone in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare?

Activision won’t allow Warzone to be downloaded until 8 AM PDT. This means that there is no pre-load for the game. However, there are some indicators that at least part of the new mode may already be installed and is just waiting for an update to activate it.

Over the last month, info has leaked out about the battle royale mode. Some of this came not from data mining, but from players just accidentally glitching into the Warzone menu. This indicates at some point, at least part of the data for the new mode was added to the game. In fact, some of those gigantic updates we’ve seen for the game in the last few months may have included sections of the new mode.

Since parts of the mode are already installed, the Warzone update download size isn’t any larger than a typical Modern Warfare patch. Activision says the update is 18-22GB depending on the platform.

However, if you’re planning on using the free-to-play version of Call of Duty: Warzone, you’re looking at 83-101GB download. The free-to-play version of the mode won’t be available until 12 PM PDT, which gives Modern Warfare owners a small period of exclusivity. So, if you’re going free-to-play, prepare your PC or console for some massive downtime in the next day.
