ANIMAL CROSSING NEW HORIZONS RAIN FISH

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Rain Fish | What fish can you catch when it’s raining?

Animal Crossing: New Horizons rain fish will appear more frequently when it is raining, with certain fish like the Barreleye and sharks popping up with greater regularity under certain weather conditions. Fish like the Coelacanth also only appear when it’s raining, so when the weather takes a turn for the worst, it’s worth going out with your fishing rod and trying to hunt down some rare water-dwelling creatures.

The ACNH rain fish list encompasses a variety of different rare fish. While the rain is by no means a guarantee that you’ll hook one of these rare finds, it does improve your chances of doing so, so it’s always worth venturing over to the sea for a fishing session whenever the heavens open.

This list is based on the increased regularity of these fish appearing in rain thus far, though there is a chance of it growing to include more fish as we have more data to draw from.

As was the case in previous Animal Crossing games, the rain only seems to impact the rarer fish. There’s not a higher chance of catching more common or moderately rare fish in these weather conditions, with only the likes of the Coelacanth, deep-sea dwellers like the Barreleye, and sharks popping up in the rain.

The following fish appear only when it’s raining:

  • Coelacanth

The following fish have a greater likelihood of appearing when it’s raining:

  • Barreleye
  • Saw Shark
  • Hammerhead Shark
  • Great White Shark
  • Whale Shark

In order to be in with a better chance of catching these rare fish, you can use bait. Do this by using manila clams you dig up on the beach, which are highlighted by the small holes that spurt out water in the sand. While bait doesn’t always guarantee that a rare fish will appear, it does increase the chances of them doing so.
