Following the reveal of the PS5’s DualSense controller, plenty of you have been trying to image what the console itself will look like, wondering is the PS5 going to be white? In this guide, we’ll take a look at what color PS5s will there be as well as letting you in on the answer to is there going to be a black PS5? Read on to discover what color scheme we think the PlayStation 5 will follow and whether or not there will be different color options at launch.
What color PS5s will be there be?
As of writing, Sony hasn’t revealed the design of the PS5. It’s safe to say, though, that with the white and black design of the controller, we could be set for a similarly designed console. Is the PS5 going to be white? The PS5 will likely be a white console. At least, one of the PS5 colors could be white. As with the PS4, PS3, and PS2, we could get different color PlayStation 5s. We’d argue, however, that the standard PS5 color could well be white, at first. Not least because of this realistic-looking PS5 console render.

Just as the DualSense controller looks setup for multiple color options, the console could be, too. Read through this checklist to discover the potential answer to “what color PS5s will there be?”:
- White
- Black
- Grey
- Red
- Blue
- Gold
- Silver
We don’t know what color options there will be for the PS5. The above list is based on different color versions of previous Sony home consoles. White looks as though it’ll be the standard option at first, however, although a black alternative could release for launch, too.
Is there going to be a black PS5?
As the PS2, PS3, and PS4 are all primarily black consoles (the PSP and Vita, too), we wouldn’t be surprised to see a black PS5 available either at launch or further down the line. As of writing, though, we simply don’t know what the PS5 will look like. It could take the two-tone design of the DualSense, and go for black and white together, or it could be completely different. Let’s hope for a retro grey look though.
