Valorant Cost | Is Valorant free to play?

Everyone is eager to try out Valorant, the new FPS coming out of Riot Games. The game’s beta is still underway, and new players are joining all the time. Beta access is free, but can the same be said of the game once it formally releases? What does Valorant cost? Or will Riot’s competitive shooter release as a free-to-play game?

How much does Valorant cost? Is it free-to-play?

You won’t have to pay to play Valorant: It’s being released as a free-to-play game. As such, there are no associated costs outside of optional microtransactions. Valorant will have various cosmetics such as skins available for purchase, but we don’t yet know how much they will cost.

ALSO: Valorant Minimum and Recommended System Requirements

As with other popular games from Riot, Valorant was always intended to release as a free-to-play title. It follows in the footsteps of other studio games such as League of Legends or Legends of Runeterra. Both are free, but include the option to buy cosmetics or other items.

Valorant is also frequently compared to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which now employs a similar F2P model. Like CSGO, Valorant is aimed at first-person shooter fans with a knack for competitive gameplay. CSGO also features a number of different microtransactions through its Community Market, including weapon skins, Agents, decals, and more.

It’s worth remembering that all of the game’s microtransactions will be optional purchases. They won’t change how the game is played; alterations will be purely cosmetic. In other words, you won’t suddenly get dominated by other players simply because they spent more money than you.

Valorant is designed to be a free-to-play game, so it won’t cost you a dime. If you do want to spend money, you’ll have the option to buy various cosmetics. Still, anyone who wants to try out the new FPS release won’t have to pay for the privilege.
